Kids Follow Rules When Written Down

Kids are more likely to follow the rules if they are written out and posted, finds a new study. Boston University researchers tested 61 children between the ages of four and six. They found that kids who were starting to read chose written instructions over spoken instructions 75 percent of the time. Professor Kathleen Corriveau, lead researcher, says, "Children seem more likely to remember it and more likely to obey it when it's put to paper. It suggests they view texts as a mechanism to knowledge." She suggests parents write down rules simply and broken down to increase the chance of their kid following them.
