Lower Risk Of Nut Alllergy By Eating Them

Sometimes it really is the "hair of the dog" that can make things better. As nut allergies increase among children mothers have been wondering whether they should be consuming tree nuts while pregnant. Researchers say the answer is yes, eating tree nuts helps. To find this, researchers followed nearly 11-thousand participants form birth through about age four. The participants' mothers reported their diets during or shortly before or after pregnancy, and researchers found that peanut/tree nut allergy incidence was significantly lower among the children of mother who ate more nuts during pregnancy. Researchers say, "This study adds to the emerging body of evidence that early introduction of food allergens leads to the development of tolerance to these food allergies, reducing the risk of developing food allergies."
