Tropical Storm Andrea Expected To Be A Rain Maker

If you had to pick a song for the day I think the Eurythmics's Here Comes The Rain Again would best describe our new Tropical Storm friend Andrea.

The National Hurricane Center is predicting the center circulation of Andrea to make landfall in the Big Bend area this afternoon.  For us the means we'll be getting a lot of rain, anywhere from 3 to 6 inches by Friday morning.  Coastal storm surge predicted around 2 to 4 feet and a Tropical Storm warning is in effect for the west coast and big bend areas of Florida.  Also a Tropical Storm warning on the east coast from Flagler Beach northward to Virginia.  And also in the mix is a wind advisory and flood watch through Friday.

Experts say this is going to be a rain maker but it reminds us that Hurricane season is upon us and there's no better time to make your storm kit.  Plus the National Hurricane Center has some other great tips at their web site so take a look and be prepared.

We can offer you some mobile information too.  Text HURRICANE to 72881 and receive local storm information directly to your cell phone and mobile devices. it's a free service provided by Clay Electric Co-op and SunState Federal Credit Union.

If anything changes we'll let you know about it on 98.5 KTK!
