Women Who Give Birth After 33 Live Longer

What do you think is the ideal age to have kids? New data finds that women who give birth after age 33 live longer than those who give birth earlier. Lead researcher, Dr. Thomas Perls, says, "The natural ability to have a child at an older age likely indicates that a woman's reproductive system is aging slowly, and therefore so is the rest of her body." Women who had their last child after the age of 33 were found to be twice as likely to celebrate their 95th birthday compared to those who had their last child by age 29. Genetic variants that mean women remain fertile for longer may be the key to the prolonged survival. However, Perls says this does not mean that women should wait to have children at older ages in order to improve their chances of living longer.
