It happens every day. Children are battling diseases or overcoming injuries. It may begin with a seemingly benign cough, a headache,an accidental injury, a sudden car accident, or campfire. What ever the cause, whenever it happens Shands Hospital for Children at UF is here to help patients from every county in Florida, 46 other states and 8 foreign countries. Radiothon pledges are used in ways that directly affect the children and their families through programs like: Child Life programs, Arts in Medicine, Life-Saving Equipment Purchases and Prevention Programs through the Safe Kids North Central Florida. Other Radiothon dollars are used to improve facilities. And still more are used for research in the areas of pediatric cancer, genetics, neonatology, and cardiology.
